PRISON ISLAND BOAT TOUR in ZANZIBAR – HALF DAY
Prison Island takes approximately 30 minutes to get there by boat from Stone Town. The prison was built on this island in 1893, it was later used as a quarantine hospital. It has a frangipani lined path around the island where the former patients took their evening walks.
Apart from the prison ruins you can also see the beautiful peacocks and the giant tortoises, some of which are over 100 years old. It is also a way to see Stone Town from the sea. Free time for sunbathing and swimming. Excellent snorkelling around the island. Don’t miss this beautiful experience!
Timing: Half day excursion (Lunch is not included, but you can get it packed from your chosen accommodation) that normally starts either in the morning around 9 am or in the afternoon around 2 pm (14.00), however you will be further communicated the exact time.
What to take with you: mosquito repellent, some money if you wish to buy drinks or food on the island, walking shoes, hat, swimming costume & towel, sun cream, photo camera and your good mood.
