Like the entire island, Milele Villas has a unique ambience – something both tangible and intangible that defines our sense of a place. We are blessed by unspoiled nature and natural wonders like the magical event of watching the stars on our secluded beach at night. “Milele” means “Forever” in Kiswahili and there is a reason why we are known as the “forever place”: Here people lose track of time while become enchanted with a feeling of total calmness and tranquillity, away from the outside world.

Zanzibar’s “Eco Villas” are entirely run on solar energy. We use the Zanzibar sun to produce hot water and electricity, a backup generator is available just for rainy days. The villas are not connected to the public grid. Our water is mainly collected rain water, backed up by the public water supply.

The private villas of Milele Villas Zanzibar are located directly on the beach of Fukuchani on the northwest coast of Zanzibar. The isolated and unique location close to Nungwi is perfectly suited to provide privacy during your vacations. It is the only hotel in this area far off mass tourism and its dynamics. Therefore it is completely undisturbed and ensures a unique privacy. Our guests enjoy positive natural energy in our two beach villas, Lisa and Tatu and the tranquillity of a peaceful and enchanting piece of paradise.

Secluded at the island’s north-west coast, the villas offer privacy and tranquillity while being less than 1 hour drive away from Stone Town and other places of interest. Karume International Airport is 45 km south from Milele Villas.

Milele Villas consists of 2 individual beach villas, each with its own private swimming pool, nestling in the tropical gardens with breathtaking views over the Indian Ocean. In keeping with our ethos of working with natural and cultural traditions, we use local building techniques and natural materials to bring traditional beauty without sacrificing modern comforts. The design is heavily influenced by the distinctive Afro-Arabian style, unique to the Swahili coast, combining rustic charm with exotic opulence.

VILA LISA

Villa Lisa is a large and open African style property nested in about 1800 m2 private garden, providing 350 m2 of living space. Located directly on the beach it offers stunning views over the Indian Ocean. Even without air conditioning – following the ecotourism guidelines – rooms are cool and refreshed by the gentle breeze from the ocean. It has 2 double rooms, 1 room with twin beds and an upstairs open lounge with 2 double beds. All rooms have en suite bathrooms, the first floor also provides a sun deck, ideal to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the Indian Ocean.

The absence of TV or radio reflects our guests’ wishes to immerse themselves in the beautiful surroundings and to listen to the sound of exotic birdsong and waves lapping upon the shore instead.

The ground floor features one twin and two double bedrooms facing the Indian Ocean. Each is appointed with a ceiling fan and with its own en-suite bathroom. Right in front of the rooms the pool lounge forms a sitting area which invites to relax and have a drink after enjoying the private infinity pool.

The entire first floor forms one vast open space, the African Lounge. It offers various sitting areas, a working space with desk and 2 additional double beds. Also the African lounge has its own en-suite bathroom. From the lounge stairs lead up to the sunset deck where guests can watch the stunning Zanzibar sunsets while enjoying a tropical cocktail.

VILA TATU

Villa ‘Tatu’ gets its name from the Swahili word ‘three’, as it is composed of 3 sections. The two outer buildings accommodate 2 large triple rooms, each appointed with a king size double and a single bed, dressing mirror, working space with desk and en-suite bathroom. The central section is a vast lounge with sitting area, a bar counter like dining area, working space with desk and another king size double bed. Upstairs 2 double rooms with en-suite bathrooms and a large terrace in front provide fantastic ocean view. From here stairs lead up to the rooftop terrace which invites to have dinner under African stars.

All rooms are appointed with ceiling fans, mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms and provide stunning ocean view through full width glass fronts. Villa Tatu comfortably accommodates up to 12 persons and is rented out only exclusively, which means reservations are for the entire villa.

There are many dining areas at Milele Villas. The Beach provides an inspiring setting for our breakfast and à la carte lunch and a much more romantic and atmospheric setting for the evening meal.

We’re passionate about food and uncompromising about the quality of our ingredients. Our policy is to source locally wherever possible, buying fish and seafood straight off our beach, picking fruit and vegetables visiting the colourful local markets to support the community. Our food is influenced by the exotic flavors of East African cooking as well as the simple Mediterranean cuisine.

Our bar card offers a wide range of sodas and beers, a selection of South African wines and a blend of local and international spirits. It also includes various fresh tropical fruit juices, milk shakes and smoothies and a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. And of course your drinks, just like your meals, are being served right to the spot of your choice at any time.

Children meals

Our kitchen is flexible and creative with something to suit absolutely everyone. High-chairs can be provided, as can baby-friendly food. We are also delighted to offer children’s meals around the clock, tailored to suit your children. There is no dining room as such, with guests free to choose where they want to have their meals, be it in the privacy of their villa lounge, on the beach, in their private garden or on the rooftop of their villa.

There is not really a bad or good time to go, but almost anytime it suits you. However there are two main seasons in Zanzibar. A High or Standard season is usually between June and March when you can expect Zanzibar to be very popular among worldwide tourists. Rainy season is usually during April and May when the heavy, but short rains can often occur, but it’s also the season when it’s the least crowded.
