Swahili food is all about the flavours & colours, the tastes and the spices. Learn how to mix and marry our local ingredients that you purchased at the Stone Town Market. Share a friendly and relaxing moment with our local cook who will teach you the basic of our local cuisine.
Our Food Safari will bring you to the Darajani market where you will buy your ingredients with your guide and then you will herd to Mtoni Palace which was once the birth place of Princess Salma. There, Sahla, will be waiting for you for your cooking lessons and afterwards you will have a tasting session of your delicious dishes.
Zanzibari cuisine reflects several heterogeneous influences, as a consequence of the multicultural and multi-ethnic nature of Zanzibar’s and Swahili heritage. It is a mixture of various culinary traditions, including Bantu, Arab, Portuguese, Indian, British and even Chinese cuisine.
Timing: Half day excursion (Lunch is included) that normally starts in the morning around 9.30 am until 1.30 pm, however you will be further communicated the exact time.
What to take with you: walking shoes, hat, photo camera and your good mood.
