Introduction and activities
Firstly, Val Gardena, along with Selva Gardena, Ortisei and St. Cristina, make up the world-famous skiing region. Secondly, this prestigious valley hosts the annual World Cup racing championship. Thirdly, the ski resort is excellently located directly in the Sella Ronda system. You find it divided into two parts, Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusie, connected via local buses. Thanks to its close proximity to the Dolomiti Superski ski area and the nearby Alpe di Siusi, Val Gardena is considered a true paradise for winter sports lovers. For example, there are slopes for all ability levels, from easy to extremely difficult, thanks to nearly 175 km of interconnected slopes served by more than 80 ski lifts. On the other hand, for cross country ski lovers there are 115 km of trails.
Ortisei, with a rich history has a special urban plan, metamorphosing within the natural surroundings. In addition, the centre of Ortisei and the streets flanked by a lot of shops, make this town an ideal meeting place and an important point of the shopping lovers in northern Italy. Ortisei region is known mainly as a winter tourist destination, with lots of places accessible by cable cars. Moreover, it has all the sports facilities which you probably would like such as billiard clubs, fitness centre, mini-golf, sauna, swimming pools, tennis centre, etc.

Skiing activities
Skiing in Val Gardena and Ortisei is by far the most popular winter sport and here you can look forward to another thrilling winter season. The Dolomiti Superski area is one of the most popular all over the world and the largest in Europe. In this vast ski area 1,200 kilometres of slopes await you. Here you can find crowd-free slopes, with great terrain for all levels.

You will discover a little cross-country paradise with several trails that will take you over rolling hills, through forests, over frozen lakes and in the mountains. The slopes are prepared by machines at regular intervals to guarantee the perfect skiing conditions. Rental equipment is available at the rental shop located close to the car park.

Snowboarding on the slopes in Val Gardena are a wonderful playground for snowboarders and even off-piste you can have a lot of fun. Here you can find crowd-free slopes, with great terrain for all levels. If you are looking for rails, jumps and half-pipes or for the perfect place for freestyle, Val Gardena is the place where your dreams come true.
Snowshoeing is the perfect activity for you if you want to keep fit, but at the same time appreciate the silence and contemplation of nature. Far away from the crowded slopes you can experience Val Gardena in a very special way, while walking through the woods and discovering all secrets that the untouched nature can offer.
Ice skating is a favourite wintertime activity. It is such a fun activity and at the same time a great exercise too! Of course in Val Gardena you get the chance to go ice-skating: an ice rink is located in Selva, just two walking minutes away from Garni Crepaz. In addition, there is an outdoor ice rink in Ortisei just next to Alpe di Siusi cable car.
Sledging is a lot of fun for all your family. In Val Gardena you can find several wonderful toboggan runs. Rasciesa in Ortisei can be an option or on the Alpe di Siusi which is the largest mountain plateau in Europe. You are never too old to whizz down the mountain on a toboggan.
Summer activities
Climbing on the Dolomites are perfect for an alpine climbing. You can discover the stunning scenery while venturing on a number of climbing trails on the rock with various degrees of difficulty. You have to know that the area offers well secured sport climbing walls, impressive adventure trails, moderate alpine routes, as well as imposing big wall routes.
