Historic attractions in South Sicily
Neapolis Archaeological Park of Siracusa contains the stunning Greek Theatre and the Roman Amphitheatre. Because this two make it one of the greatest archaeological sites in all of Italy. You have to know that this archaeological park together with the entire city of Siracusa was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 which is well deserved.
Modica is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Sicily. It consists of two town centres, the older part placed on the rocky top of the southern Iblei hill, the other rebuilt further downhill after the 1693 earthquake. After that, it has imposing and ancient monuments such as the Cathedral of St. George and the Church of St. Peter. Modica is also a popular and nice Sicilian town renowned for its diverse history, Baroque-style buildings and not to forget about the famous chocolate from here.
Ragusa Ibla placed on the top of a hill overlooking the valley, is a small town with lots of Baroque churches and buildings. The old part of the city is connected to the new one, Ragusa Nuova, with a curvy street that gives you stunning views over the town.
