Introduction and attractions
Sorrento is a small town located in south of Italy. Firstly, the city is perfectly set on the top of white cliffs with great views of the Gulf of Naples. Churches in Sorrento
The church of San Francesco dates back to the fourteenth century. It has a rich baroque style and comes with one nave and various chapels. A convent and the cloister are nearby and both were dedicated to Saint Francis. The church is very different nowadays because of many renovation and reconstruction interventions, like the ones concerning the marble facade from 1926.
Basilica di Sant’ Antonio is the most important church in Sorrento being dedicated to the town’s patron saint. You can go and visit the church to view the gorgeous interiors. You can see also St. Antonius’s crypt and the offerings of sailors who survived shipwrecks thanks to the intervention of this saint, the patron of rescues.

Old Sorrento is home to numerous historical buildings including the Basilica of Sant’Antonino and the complex of San Francesco. Once inside, visit the lovely church, cloister and a convent. You have to know that Marina Grande is the old, former port of Sorrento which is now a nice fishing village with excellent seafood restaurants and rustic homes and shops. Meanwhile, Marina Piccola is the main port of Sorrento where the ferries go to and from Capri, Naples and Amalfi dock.
