Oradea city is situated in the north-west part of Romania, near the border with Hungary. Firstly, is the capital city of Bihor County and Crisana region. Historic attractions in Oradea
The Union Square

Certainly the new refurbished city center has a special look. Therefore it could take more than one day to fully enjoy the rich history that surprises every curious person that approach it. The Union Square in Oradea hosts several materialized ideas from different architects, painters and builders. They have not reached the level of the geniuses of the world. However, they have left precious gifts behind.
Oradea Citadel
The citadel, as it is presented today, with bastions on the corners and protective ditch, was built between the 1570 and 1618 by Italian architects. Above all, it remains one of the best preserved Italian Renaissance fortresses in Central Europe. In addition, another interesting aspect of Oradea Citadel is that it hosted the first European astronomical observer and the zero meridian for 200 years. Firstly in the modern era, the fortress was restored in 2014. Secondly the first hotel in the building was opened in 2016. Further it preserves a medieval air with high vaulted ceilings. The furniture is made in the same style.
Cultural attractions in Oradea
Black Eagle (Vulturul Negru) Palace Arcade
It is the most important building of its style in Oradea. Moreover, the building is multifunctional, including, at the time of inauguration, a casino, hotel, offices, restaurant all grouped in three asymmetrical bodies. Nowadays, there are many cafes, restaurants and offices in the building. On the other hand, it is an important meeting place for the social scene of the city. The black eagle stained glass, which became an emblem of the ensemble, was made in 1909 in the Neumann K workshop in Oradea.
„Regina Maria” Theater (Teatrul de Stat)
Firstly, the theater was built between 1899 and 1900 in the neoclassical style. Secondly, the construction plans were made by two Austrian architects who built around 100 theaters in Europe at the end of the 19th century. The theatre is set on 3 levels, initially offering up to 1000 seats. Certainly, the impressive entrance is framed by the statues of the Comedy and Tragedy Goddess. The exterior appearance combines the neoclassical style with neo-renaissance and neo-royal elements. But the interior finishes and ornaments are enforced by an accentuated rococo style. The hall currently has a total capacity of 670 seats.

Calea Republicii
This is known among the locals as “Republicii” or “Principala”. Most importantly, is one of the most beautiful streets in Romania, with many Art Nouveau buildings. Above all, has an artistic style manifested in the visual arts where the design and architecture have roots in the twentieth century.
The Church with the moon
The Christian Orthodox Church, unique in Europe, was built between 1784 and 1790 in Baroque style with neoclassical elements. In the tower, it has a metallic half-golden and half black sphere, that through a mechanism built in 1793, moves to indicate the phases of the moon.
Baile Felix (Baths)
In addition to the important monuments of the city, nearby Oradea is the largest permanent spa resort in Romania with thermal water. The city itself has waterparks and different thermal pools for you to enjoy. The resort host many mineral springs with thermal water (20-48°C), rich in bicarbonate waters known since the beginning of the millennium. Most importantly, the soothing effect of the waters is good on articular and muscular pain and on various rheumatic problems.
