Cultural attractions in Kusadasi
Visit Caravanserai Castle an Ottoman castle near the Kusadasi port. See it built in semi-circular form for maritime trade. Today, the building stands right across the street from the main harbour. The municipality owns and use it for public events and concerts.

The cave of the Seven Sleepers is known to both Christians and Islamists. The story of the Seven Martyrs in Ephesus begins in the time of Emperor Decius (250), who forced the Byzantine Empire population to gather in temples and worship idols. The seven brothers refused to obey and were built in a cave known as the Grotto of the Seven Sleep. According to the legend, they were found there two hundred years later, sleeping.
The House of the Virgin Mary is the place where, according to the beliefs of many people, Mary, the mother of Jesus spent her last years of her life. She supposedely arrived at Ephesus together with St. John and lived there until her Assumption (according to Catholic doctrine).
