Alanya Castle includes 140 towers and its walls are 6.5 kilometres long.  The appearance of the Alanya Peninsula, also known as Kandeleri, dates back to the Hellenistic period. Damlatas Cave is situated at Kleopatra Beach, where the Alanya Peninsula Castle is also located. “Damlatas” means stalactite in English. The Red Tower is located in the port of the peninsula. His octagonal shape gave him the name of the city’s symbol. The tower was built in the 13th century. The base of the tower consists of red bricks, but the upper part has been burned to have the red colour. In those times, raising pieces of brick to a certain height has caused difficulties. Therefore, the colour of the bricks gave the name of the tower, namely the Red Tower or Kizilkule. Also, in the walls of the fortress can be seen pieces of ancient marble.
