Relief and climate of Salaj County:

Salaj County has a relief with plateaus, mountains and hills with the maximum altitude in Magura Priei peak of 989 meters height. In its southern part there are Mezes and Plopis Mountains and the rest of the territory is covered by the Transylvanian Plateau and the Western Hills. Salaj County‘s climate is continental moderate but it varies a lot depending on land forms and altitude. The annual average of the temperature is 10-11º C, making an exception in the mountain area where the temperatures fall down to 7-8° C. Here prevails the west winds and the rainfall is pretty high. Flora, fauna and tourist attractions from Salaj County:

Salaj‘s flora is rich in deciduous forests (beech, holm, horn-beam, linden, ash, oak), but also many grassy shrubs and various plants. Farming here is among the main activities. The fauna from Salaj is represented by mammals like rabbits, squirrels, foxes, deer or wild boars, birds like woodpeckers, pheasants, nightingales and others.
