WELCOME TO NDUTU SAFARI LODGE, NDUTU AREA
Ndutu Safari Lodge is situated in the Ndutu Area inside Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the southern Serengeti eco-system. The Lodge nestles unobtrusively under a canopy of giant acacias with views towards Lake Ndutu. The lodge offers a superb base in which to explore the range of habitats that lie within easy reach. Swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains make Ndutu Safari Lodge one of the best places to watch wildlife.
ACCOMMODATION AND ROOM FEATURES
Ndutu Safari Lodge consists of 34 stone cottages that extend from the central, open-sided bar, lounge and dining room. Each room has its own verandah that faces Lake Ndutu. All rooms have en-suite facilities. The cottages are made from local materials and offer comfortable accommodation. Please contact us for information about wheelchair access.
ROOM SERVICES AND OTHER GUEST SERVICE FACILITIES
Our generator is operational from 05.30 – 13.00 and 18.00 – 23.30. The voltage is 220 Volts and we use the British 3 pin plugs. Each room has a socket for charging phones and camera batteries. Extra sockets are available in the bar area. We ask that guests refrain from using hairdryers and other items of a similar nature as they overload our generator.
All rooms have electric lights; there are also torches and small solar lights in the rooms for use when the generator has been switched off at night. If you use a CPAP breathing machine, please be aware that there will be a surcharge to operate the generator overnight. Specifically, designed travel battery packs can be obtained online. Guests are welcome to deposit any valuables at the reception for safekeeping. In the office, we have a telephone and internet email communications.
The available mobile telephone network is Airtel, but the signal varies in strength and reliability. We provide Wi-Fi in the lounge area, and ask that you limit your usage to checking emails and avoid downloads or sending large files. The satellite Wi-Fi connection can at times be very slow, so we suggest you use your time to connect with nature instead.
RESTAURANT AND BAR
We offer good quality home cooking. Breakfast is a buffet of fresh fruits and cereals and an English cooked breakfast is made if ordered. This is available from 07.00am onward. Boxed picnic breakfasts can be ordered for those that want to be out early. A three-course lunch is served from 12.30 through to 14.00. Dinner is a hearty four course affair and is served from 19.30 through to 21.00. We always offer a vegetarian alternative and, with prior notice, we are happy to cater for any special needs.
From 05.30am onward, and throughout the day, tea, coffee and biscuits are available on a complimentary basis in the lounge area. We also offer herbal tea and decaffeinated coffee. Guests can also request early morning drinks to be delivered to their rooms.
RECREATION
Each evening guests are welcome to join us around the camp-fire. For those not wanting to sit outside, the bar provides a warm, cozy atmosphere. The genets, small spotted cat-like animals, usually make an appearance, gazing down at you from the rafters. The genets have been here for years and as they are nocturnal it is a great pleasure for guests to be able to see them at such a close proximity.
We offer a full laundry service. There are laundry bags in the rooms and items that are sent to the laundry in the morning are usually returned late afternoon – weather permitting! All laundry is hand washed. There is a well-stocked gift shop at the lodge selling a wide range of curios. With this shop we try to support local projects where women and handicapped people are using their skills for a better future, for themselves and their families.
There are no fences around Ndutu Safari Lodge and wild animals wander through at all hours of day and night. Guests, for their own safety, are requested to stay within the lodge grounds. During the evening, watchmen are on duty and are on hand to escort guests back to their rooms. The watchmen remain on duty throughout the night.
