ECO-FRIENDLY
Kichuguu Camp operates off-the-grid and relies on a custom-built solar system for its power. Room fabrics are handwoven African designs, and the camp’s furniture was commissioned and crafted by artisans in Arusha, Tanzania. Hard plastics and tin are brought back to Arusha for recycling, and rain water is collected in Kichuguu’s staff areas. In Arusha, we have our very own garden of organically grown herbs, fruits and vegetables which we use to supply the camp. Kichuguu’s management team is involved in local tree planting projects to help offset the camp’s carbon footprint, and has planted more than 2000 indigenous trees in the last two years around the Arusha area.
