SPICE TOUR in ZANZIBAR – HALF DAY
Our Spice Tour offers you the opportunity to discover the vibrant spices of this magic island. Head to the famous spice farm of the island – from the pep of the chilli to the taste of a delicious and refreshing coconut, this excursion also provides you with the unique chance to discover & purchase those exclusive spices straight from the source.
We could arrange in a restaurant in town for a typical Swahili cuisine. You will be able to taste the various spices used in those traditional dishes (extra cost). Indeed, Zanzibar’s story would be incomplete in the history of the world without the cloves, nutmeg, cardamon, pepper, cinnamon and many other spices which are essential ingredients in a Zanzibari’s everyday life.

Zanzibar was one of the worlds’ largest producers of spices such as clove, nutmeg and cinnamon in the 19th century, after the abolition of the slave trade. The Spice Route excursion is a unique opportunity to see and buy them at source. As you will discover, spices are woven into the very fabric of culture and everyday life in Zanzibar. Their pungent wafts and zingy tastes, organic colours and textures weave magic and tantalise the senses. Cool down with a deliciously fresh coconut or sugar cane juice. You can also buy some fresh fruits straight from the plantation. You will then be taken to taste the local Zanzibar coffee.
Timing: Half day excursion (Lunch is not included, but you can get it packed from your chosen accommodation) that normally starts in the morning around 9 am, however you will be further communicated the exact time.
What to take with you: some money if you want to buy spices, oils and other products available at the farm, walking shoes, hat, photo camera and your good mood.
