We have 15 spacious rooms located in 4 bungalows with broad terraces and makuti-style thatched roofs, connected by wooden walkways weaving through the garden. The 8 Ocean View Rooms and 7 Garden View Rooms are built on a coral rock elevation overlooking the beach and the ocean. 3 of the bungalows have 4 rooms and one bungalow has 3 rooms only.

Our hotel property is endowed with beautiful tropical beaches. The main beach can be easily accessed via wooden stairs and features local deckchairs and thatched sunshades. It is best to swim in the ocean at high tide. During low tide you can explore the tidal pools and coral rock while wading to a lagoon where swimming is possible at any time. Right behind the focal beach lays our new striking, swimming pool inviting you to splash into the crystal-clear water and refresh from the intense tropical sun.

Bao Beach is a wide, deserted beach with private access for our hotel guests through a short 5 minute walk through the forest. It can also be reached from the main beach at low tide. In the morning you can observe local fishermen selling octopus and fresh fish between the two beaches.

There are several wild animals living on our plot that can be spotted such as dik-diks (small species of antelope), hyrax, dykes Sykes and even the endemic red colobus monkeys.

Scuba Diving

We can arrange scuba diving with the fully equipped PADI 5 Star IDC Centre that regularly dives the unspoiled reefs of the southeast coast of Zanzibar.  First-time divers will be able to familiarize themselves with the diving equipment accompanied by an instructor in a swimming pool. It is also good to know that there is a decompression chamber with professional medical staff that opened in Zanzibar in July 2008.

Kite Surfing

Another exciting activity within easy reach is Kite Surfing. The fully accredited International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) centre’s amenities include a compressor, pack-down area and rescue boat. Special activities include extreme down-winders, full moon kiting, bonfire BBQ parties and other events.

The restaurant is set up on a cliff with a magnificent panoramic view of the ocean and the coral reef. Enjoy a bird-eye view of the local dhows sailing by as you have a tropical breakfast including fresh fruits and juice, eggs the way you like it and homemade bread. The large open building with its makuti thatched roof is a welcome oasis during the heat of the day.

For lunch and dinner our restaurant offers traditional, continental and vegetarian dishes prepared from local produce. Fresh seafood is also available daily. Sip on cocktails as day eases into balmy night. Feel the true magic of this place during romantic candle-light dinners and watch the moonlight reflect on the gentle waves of the Indian Ocean.

The public beaches are covered with powder white sand between May until December. During the other months the Ocean currents and winds uncover the coral rock of which the whole island is composed. Our infinity pool is the perfect place to relax, to cool down and to enjoy the sun and magical view of the turquoise Indian Ocean with a healthy refreshing juice. Water gym sessions and swimming lessons can be organised. Our first private beach is situated next to the swimming pool. Relaxing sun bathing are the proposed main activities but programmed yoga sessions can be organised as well. Bao Beach is located in a beautiful bay with white sand. It offers sun beds and umbrellas with a beach bar and soon a small gym area. The beach is used for gym sessions as a setting off point for beach runs relaxing, sun bathing and from time to time a BBQ at sunset. Snorkelling near the coral reef where many kinds/species of coloured fish and starfish can be admired. Visits to the mangrove forest with its unique vegetation. During High season (based on occupancy) we organise a Swahili evening with traditional singing, dancing, acrobatics and a tasty buffet with an array of local dishes.

There is not really a bad or good time to go, but almost anytime it suits you. However there are two main seasons in Zanzibar. A High or Standard season is usually between June and March when you can expect Zanzibar to be very popular among worldwide tourists. Rainy season is usually during April and May when the heavy, but short rains can often occur, but it’s also the season when it’s the least crowded.
