WELCOME TO KIOTA CAMP, SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Welcome to Kiota Camp Serengeti

Opened in May 2015, Kiota Camp is permanently located in Central Serengeti and GPS Coordinates are 2°19’41″S 34°48’55″E .

Kiota Camp is taking advantage of the year-round wildlife viewing, with the Seronera Valley and nearby areas having plenty to offer. The Central Serengeti is famous for its healthy populations of large cats, permanent game around the Seronera River, and Rettima Hippo Pool. Kiota is the sister camp of Chaka Camp, a semi-permanent camp that moves twice a year to follow the migration. Combining Kiota and Chaka Camps in the Serengeti ecosystem is a great way to see many different areas of this vast wildlife area.

We have paired up with the original design team of Chaka Camp to create Kiota Camp. The look and feel of Kiota is different from that of Chaka, but the attention to detail and quality are the same. Preparing delicious meals and focusing on a high level of customer service are integral parts of our new camp. Kiota, meaning ‘nest’ in Swahili, is your home away from home in the middle of the Serengeti. Karibuni sana!

ECO-FRIENDLY

Kiota Camp operates off-the-grid and relies on a custom-built solar system for its power. Room fabrics are handwoven African designs, and the camp’s furniture was commissioned and crafted by artisans in Arusha, Tanzania. Hard plastics and tin are brought back to Arusha for recycling, and rain water is collected in Kiota’s staff areas. In Arusha, we have our very own garden of organically grown herbs, fruits and vegetables which we use to supply the camp. Kiota’s management team is involved in local tree planting projects to help offset the camp’s carbon footprint, and has planted more than 2000 indigenous trees in the last two years around the Arusha area.
